“We are like you, we are European too – Europe, a vine and its branches” is the title of this European school partnership programme – a programme against intolerance, prejudice, exclusion and discrimination. The aim of this is the recognition and acceptance of both similarities and differences as well as the raising of the pupils to responsible European citizens.

The project is not only about integration o
n European but also on national level concerning especially families of different ethnic backgrounds. Pupils, teachers and parents should be made sensitive to this particular problematic. During the first project meeting a plan was worked out about the way the partner schools intend to work together in the following two years. Tasks were shared between the schools and the next meeting was arranged. The approval of the national agency is also necessary for the availability of funds for both the project work and the travel that is involved to take part in the project.

During the last COMENIUS project Eichenlaub school and the partner school in Luxembourg worked successfully with the Romanian school from Barlad. Due to the large amount of project applications in Romania the partner school from Barlad didn't receive the approval to officially take part in this project. But nonetheless it was decided to include the former partner in the project. During the project meeting contact to Romania was established via internet video link.In the first project year the situation of each school and the region will be written up. A suitable questionnaire will be drawn up to record the difficulties, problems, hopes and wishes experienced by the involved pupils and teachers. Afterwards the similarities and the differences between the cultures and the everyday life will be noted. Suggestions and appropriate measures to improve the situation will be worked out. As a final point a question will be asked: „What can we learn from each other and what can be done in the future to ease the situation for all participants?

10 000 bookmarks have been printed to be handed out at the partner schools and in their surrounding areas to reach a high number of people and to draw their attention to this COMENIUS project:
